Love & Intimacy
In honour of Valentine’s Day – and its tradition as “the day” to express our deeper romantic feelings – we at Jusu Body asked ourselves a couple big questions: What is love and what is intimacy?
Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love of all kinds: romantic love, but also love of our friends, our pets, our planet and ourselves. This opened up a conversation about the nature of love.
Here’s what we want to share: Love is the highest vibrational energy. It is the force that connects everything and is unlimited inside each and every one of us; like an eternal flowing stream or circles through the heart - giving and receiving without grasping, holding or withholding. Love is the unquestioning sharing of self. It has a power beyond all human strength. It has no price tag or conditions, is never forced or contained. Love just is. It makes you cry and it makes you laugh. Love opens things – doors, eyes, hearts and breath. Love makes things happen and inspires all creation. Love is a present when we are present.
The more we talked about love, the same words kept coming up - openness, integrity, caring and gratitude. These are values that we breathe into Jusu Body every single day. When we say that our products are made with love we are not kidding! Love can and does show up everywhere. We love what we do and we want everyone to experience the love and connection we put into our products and our company. From the sensual smells and textures of nature that are in every bottle, to the transparency and best intentions we bring to work every day.
But back to Valentine’s Day… and romance. The second question, “What is intimacy?” prompted a lively conversation, along with our recipe for a sensuous massage oil (see below).
The intimate connection between two people is a given moment where frequencies align and energy flows openly so that raw vulnerability can be revealed. Intimacy is ‘seeing’ and ‘feeling’ another person while being completely present. It is an unbridled joy in another’s existence. Intimacy is created when there are no expectations, no preconceived ideas, and you put yourself in a familiar situation yet BE like you have never been there before.
Intimacy can be experienced by yourself in any way that involves the enjoyment of a sensory experience – from putting on a beautiful face cream or lipstick, to enjoying a delicious meal, to smelling a flower or listening to beautiful music. Anytime we luxuriate in our senses, we are having an intimate moment. So even though you may not write yourself a love sonnet (hey, that’s a good idea!), you can still have an intimate experience on Valentine’s Day. Hopefully it will involve chocolate!
Au Natural DIY Massage
Here are some all-natural massage ideas from our resident herbalists:
The Chocolate Massage:
Melt some dark chocolate in a bowl over a pot of water. Add coconut oil or olive oil to make a runnier, easier application. A few drops of vanilla extract can be added before using. You might need a shower after this one!
Floral Spice Massage:
-30 ml carrier oil (coconut, sunflower or grapeseed)
-12 drops of a floral aphrodisiac: rose, jasmine, ylang ylang
-3 drops of spice: cardamom, clove, nutmeg or cinnamon
-6 drops of resin or woodsy essential oils: sandalwood, frankincense, myrrh, patchouli (just a touch!), vetiver
Wherever you are on February 14th, we wish you a beautiful, sensuous and loving Valentine’s Day.
Art + Nature = Beauty.
