4 Bathroom Products that Contain Harmful Ingredients
Are you the type of person who stocks your bathroom with natural skin care products? Or is your bathroom filled with typical store bought items that you tend use daily?  It is safe to say that the bathroom is often one of the most germ infested rooms in one’s home, but what about the products we find in the bathroom? We typically store items such as nail polish remover, shampoos and conditioners, cleaners and more which all tend to use harmful and toxic ingredients! There are many toxic and chemical infused products that you may already know are in your bathroom, so let’s dive into some items that may surprise you.

1. Antibacterial hand soap

To begin, antibacterial hand soaps have been noted to create super germs in the home, which leaves us vulnerable to infections, illnesses and diseases. Many healthcare researchers have also noted that antibacterial hand soaps are no better than your average plain hand soap, which leads one to the understanding that these products are filled with harmful toxins and materials that are simply absorbed through your body. The worst ingredient found in these soaps is triclosan, which has been linked to liver toxicity, thyroid problems, food allergies and even hay fever in young children.  Another concern is, after washing our hands with the product – where does it go? It goes right down the drain and into our water systems which allows for these super germs to be spread into our environment and gain potential to create infections and diseases within our population. So what should be your alternative to antibacterial hand soap, you might be wondering? A plant based organic hand soap would be the best option. In addition, you might also think about switching the products you use in your skin care routine over to natural skin care products as well, due to the fact that these products are also filled with toxic ingredients and chemicals which are extremely harmful to your skin.

2. Wipes

Wipes can be found in almost anyone’s bathroom, whether they are being used for a baby or as make up removing wipes. Your typical bathroom wipe will commonly contain the compound bronopol. Bronopol is an antimicrobial agent which is used as an alternative to alcohol, which also produces a small trace of formaldehyde as the compound breaks down. Formaldehyde has been known to irritate your eyes and throat as well as cause headaches, migraines and dizzy spells. Not to mention, this compound has also been classified as a probable human carcinogen.
Not only do wipes commonly include bronopol, they are also known to include phthalates. Phthalates are often found in a group of chemicals used to soften plastics. In addition, these have commonly been known to cause an increase of risk to problems associated with asthma, and even infertility.
It is also important to note that many manufactures and producers of wipes (regardless of these are being used on a baby or to remove makeup), do not have to list all the ingredients used it their product and will sneak in as many chemicals and toxins they can to make the product smell good, have a certain texture or even just because the ingredients are cheaper. When you put your trust in a company like Jusu, you are getting investing in a natural skin care product that will not harm your body with harsh chemicals and toxins. All of Jusu’s plant based skin care products are transparent with their ingredients and will never leave you wondering what you are putting on your skin.

3. Shampoo and Conditioner

Many shampoos and conditioners we have access too are filled with countless ingredients which are actually  toxic to you and your hair. Most of these products are filled with synthetic ingredients, chemicals and many different toxins depending on which brand you end up purchasing. Regardless, every single one of these products will end up causing dry, brittle and damaged hair. This is caused by the chemicals typically seen in the day to day drug store shampoo and conditioner brands. The chemicals included are sulfates, which remove the hairs' natural oils. By removing your hair's natural oils, the product leaves your hair feeling dry, brittle and extremely hard to manage. Secondly, the products include silicon’s, these typically leave your hair shiny but only for a short period of time. Silicon’s block the natural moisture and oils that are created in your hair shaft which will end up leaving your hair looking greasy and messy after a short amount of time. Finally, these toxins included in these products are absorbed through your skin which can cause plenty of side effects. Plant based skin care and hair care products will always avoid including the following harsh toxins:
Parabens: Parabens have been known to mimic estrogen and in turn have the risk of causing problems with ones hormone balance. Parabens have even been seen to increase the risk of cancer in the user of a product containing parabens.
Sulfates: Sulfates are often one of the main causes of skin irritations and have been known to increase risk of irritating other allergies
DMDM Hydantoin & Quarentium-15: These toxins have been directly linked to cancer as they release formaldehyde
Phthalates: Phthalates are often found in a group of chemicals used to soften plastics. In addition, these have commonly been known to cause an increase of risk to problems associated with asthma, and even infertility.

4. Chemical Drain Openers

Last but not least, our sinks, toilets, showers and bathtubs can easily be clogged with hair, waste and other items that do not belong going into our water system. Something that may surprise you is that the products we use like shampoos, conditioners and face washes can also clog our drains in our bathrooms. When this happens we have to rely on chemical drain openers to unclog the drains and fix the problem. These chemicals have an active ingredient called lye, which may not cause toxicity in humans however, it does offer great risk to the eyes if mishandled. In addition, it is dangerous to inhale any fumes or dust created by these products, especially for children. All this being said, it is yet another reason to make the switch to all  natural skin and hair care products and avoid having to use chemical drain openers due to the products you are using!
All that being said, by choosing to use all natural skin care products and hair care products, you will be avoiding the risk of putting and harmful chemicals and toxins into your body. Every ingredient included in Jusu’s natural skin care products is carefully chosen, containing the best and most nourishing ingredients for your skin.
